Biography
Shien Ri received his Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Wakayama University in 2007. He held the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Nanomechanics, Tohoku University, from 2008 to 2010. Currently, he serves as the Chief Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and holds a concurrent role as a Visiting Professor at Tokyo University of Science. His research interests include optical methods, experimental mechanics, and moiré techniques. He maintains lifelong memberships with the SPIE and the SEM, and actively participates in the Japan Society of Experimental Mechanics (JSEM), the Japanese Society for Non-Destructive Inspection (JSNDI) and the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). He has been honored with the Japan’s Distinguished Specialist in Experimental Mechanics (DSEM).
