The Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (SSA) is a professional society that is open to every registered medical practitioner engaged in the practice of anaesthesia. SSA welcomes all anaesthesia specialists, trainees, residents, fellows and medical officers to join them. Other medical and allied professionals, including medical students, can also join the SSA as Associate Members. The purpose of the SSA is outlined in Article II of the Constitution, which in part states:
- To promote the art and science of anaesthesia
- To uphold the dignity of the practice of anaesthesia
- To represent anaesthetists and protect and advance their interests
- To encourage and promote cooperation and friendship amongst anaesthetists
- To promote social, cultural and professional activities amongst members of the Society
Geriatric Surgery Society of Singapore (GSSS)

The Geriatric Surgery Society of Singapore (GSSS) has been launched in collaboration with the Society for Geriatric Medicine Singapore (SGMS) and other stakeholder organisations for promoting a trans-disciplinary and collaborative model of surgical care in elderly adults.
The Geriatric Surgery Society of Singapore (GSSS) was formed to provide a platform for like-minded clinicians (including nurses and allied health) to come together to discuss optimal management for elderly surgical patients.
Considering the unique physiological, social and medical needs of elderly surgical patients, GSSS in partnership with local and international experts will strive to create awareness, educate healthcare providers, patients and caregivers by establishing quality standards and outcome measures that matter the most.

Society for Geriatric Medicine (Singapore) (SGMS)

The practice of Geriatric Medicine was formally introduced in Singapore in 1987 and had started with only a handful of Geriatric Medicine trainees who were sent to Scotland in the late 1980s to learn the intricacies of Geriatric Medicine.
The Society for Geriatric Medicine (Singapore) (SGMS) was officially registered on 24th October 1996 with the following objectives:
- To promote and maintain standards of Geriatric Medicine and care of the elderly.
- To promote the development of comprehensive geriatric services.
- To promote research in Geriatric Medicine and care of the elderly.
- To promote undergraduate and post-graduate training in Geriatric Medicine.
Till date, over 100 Geriatricians, clinicians with a special interest in caring for the elderly and trainees in Geriatric Medicine have joined the SGMS and are providing care for the burgeoning elderly cohort of the population.
Evidence-Based Perioperative Medicine (EBPOM.org)
Evidence-Based Perioperative Medicine (EBPOM.org) is a not for profit collaborative project between a number of the UK and international academic institutions that exists to promote the examination, discussion and application of evidence-based medicine to perioperative care. Its aim is to improve the outcome of patients undergoing surgery, by creating a forum for research development, practical acquisition of essential skills and dissemination of evidence-based perioperative knowledge.
Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists
& the Faculty of Pain Medicine
The Perioperative Medicine SIG has three aims: to improve perioperative patient safety and outcomes, to share perioperative knowledge and collaborate with multi-speciality groups and to develop the speciality of perioperative medicine with various craft groups. The Perioperative Medicine SIG was founded in 2009 and has been pivotal in driving the perioperative medicine movement in Australia and NZ. It is managed by ACE, a partnership between Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) and the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA), which was established to promote and coordinate joint continuing medical education activities. The Perioperative Medicine SIG holds one of the largest perioperative meetings annually, which is attended by delegates from different specialities.
