ACC Asia 2020 together with SCS 32nd Annual Scientific Meeting
23 - 26 April 2020
Singapore

Message from Organizing Chairman

Dear friends,

On behalf of the Singapore Cardiac Society and the 31st ASM Organising Committee, we are delighted to extend a warm invitation to you to participate in the SCS 31st Annual Scientific Meeting to be held from 5th to 7th April 2019 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore.

Our theme for this year’s ASM is “The Heart and Beyond: Integrated Approach to Holistic Care” and this is a comprehensive event that brings together cardiologists, trainees, general physicians, nursing and allied healthcare professionals as well as anyone involved in the multidisciplinary care for patients with cardiovascular disease.

On Friday evening, test your knowledge on cardiology trivia as the ASM kicks off with the high octane “C-factor”, where local Cardiology trainees slug it out for the honour to represent Singapore at the international Jeopardy competition at the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions.

For the main symposium on Saturday and Sunday, SGLT-2 inhibition and its cardiovascular effects takes centrestage, alongside local and international updates on PCSK9 inhibitor therapy for secondary prevention of CAD. Hot topics including optimal timing for initiation of sacubitril / valsartan for heart failure patients, DOAC therapy in special populations such as those with renal impairment, as well as duration of dual antiplatelets post acute coronary syndrome will be covered by our experts.

ASM attendees can expand their antihypertensive arsenal with a session showcasing the newest ARB on the block, explore treatment options in women’s heart health and feel the adrenaline rush of following a patient journey through resuscitative efforts from pre-hospital to intensive care.

For the academically inclined, our SCS joint sessions with ESC and ACC are sure to whet your appetite with updates on the latest trials. The ever popular focus session on ECG interpretation of common conditions returns this year as well.

For the first time, there will be a dedicated track helmed by Cardiac Pharmacists covering the latest in cardiovascular pharmacology, including a mini debate on anticoagulation options, first hand perspectives on the National Collaborative Prescribing Program as well as Clinical Pearls on the latest cardiovascular drugs on the market.

A comprehensive Nursing track will cover topics from nursing involvement in management of atrial fibrillation to nurse-led prescriptions, to targeted temperature monitoring and telehealth in heart failure.

The best science will again be on show at the Free Paper Sessions and Young Investigator’s Award Competition, and this year’s SCS lecture will be delivered by A/Prof James Yip. Finally, we will be recognising the lifelong efforts of Dr Low Lip Ping with the Singapore Cardiac Society Lifetime Achievement Award.

Indeed, there is something for everyone at the 31st Singapore Cardiac Society Annual Scientific Meeting. So please save the dates and we look forward to seeing you soon.
