General Format and Requirements for Abstract Submissions:

  1. The abstract format is automated by the online abstract submission system. Submitters are required to follow the instructions upon submitting abstracts via the online abstract submission portal.
    • Title: Please use “Bold UPPERCASE”
    • Select Topic: Please select either “Oral Presentation” or “E-Poster Presentation”, then select one (1) from nine (9) selection of dedicated themes. (Please contact the WCFPS 2019 Secretariat directly at secretariat@wcfps2019.org to request for symposia submission)
    • Author’s Affiliation: Add your author’s affiliation this section according to the information appeared.
    • Authors: Please add your author’s details then click the correct affiliation.
    • Abstract Content: Abstract’s content should be written in English with a maximum of 300 words. The online system will not accept anything over this limit. Please note that that wordage will be calculated slightly differently by the on-line system compared to text editors such as Microsoft Word. This is because your abstract needs to fit into a defined space when published in the abstract book. Do not use macros within abstracts, as they may contain viruses. No embedded objects from outside sources are allowed (e.g. graphs, pictures).
    • Keywords: Please enter maximum of five (5) keywords and separated by semicolon (;).
  2. Once all the above details have entered, tick (/) on “I agree to the Terms & Conditions” section before you clicks the “Submit/Save” button.

GUIDELINES AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

  1. Abstracts submission is open from 1st January 2019 and will be closed on 30th April 2019.
  2. WCFPS 2019 Congress accepts submissions via the online submissions portal only.
  3. No submissions on behalf are allowed. Submitter must be the Presenter and must submit their abstract (s).
  4. Please take note that each submitter is allowed to submit a maximum of TWO (2) abstracts only. Any additional abstracts shall not be reviewed.
  5. It is the sole responsibility of the authors to ensure accuracy of scientific content and language. Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar before submission as they will be reproduced as submitted by author. Submitters are advised to seek assistance to proof read the abstract if English is not their first language. No amendments are allowed once the abstract has been assigned to the reviewer(s).
  6. Submitter may choose their preferred presentation type upon abstract submission. However, the final decision lies with the Scientific Committee.
  7. The Scientific Committee welcomes Submitted Symposia. Please contact the WCFPS 2019 Congress Secretariat directly at secretariat@wcfps2019.org to request symposia submission.

    2. Abstract Content:
      1. Content: The abstract must include sufficient information (e.g numerical and statistical data) to allow its evaluation by the Scientific Committee and to enable it to stand as a published abstract. Expressions such as “data will be presented” or “findings will be discussed” are not acceptable and will result in automatic rejection of the abstract. The onus is on the author to check spelling, grammar and format of the abstract.
      2. References: Include any references within the body of the text, in the format, Author names (up to 3), Journal name, year, volume and page. Do not include the title.
      3. Abbreviations: Must be defined by being placed in parentheses immediately after the full word or phrase has been typed for the first time.
      4. Non – proprietary: (Generic) names must be used for drugs.
      5. The abstract should be informative and stand alone in its content and meaning. It should include a brief introduction, methods used, key results, brief discussion and a conclusion. The abstract will be reviewed based on technical merit, scientific contribution and relevance under the chosen theme.
  9. Consent, Permission & Copyright:
    1. All submitters are required to acknowledge if they agreed to publish their abstract in the Age & Ageing journal.
    2. To accept responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted abstract and understand that amendment is not allowed once it has been assigned to the reviewer(s) and information provided will be published exactly as submitted.
    3. All co-authors are aware of and give consent to the content of the abstract and data presented before it is submitted. The submitter accepts responsibility as the contact person for all correspondence about the abstract and to share information with all authors about its status.
    4. Submission of abstracts implies the author’s agreement to publish the abstract in all Congress publications including the website, i.e. submitters are responsible to secure any copyright/permissions clearance required relating to any previous presentations, equipment or other material for inclusion in the WCFPS 2019 Congress publications.
    5. Submitters are responsible to obtain permission from any relevant regulatory authority and obtain consent where appropriate.
    6. Submitters are responsible to ensure the work is original and that it does not infringe upon any copyright, proprietary or personal right of party.
    7. Submitters are responsible to identify and sort out any potential conflicts of interest e.g. financial interest in products or processes described in the presentation materials, stock ownership, and membership on an advisory board or board of directors or other substantive relationships.
    8. Upon completing the online abstract submission, the submitter will be asked to confirm that the presenting author has read and understood the general information and the requirements he/she is expected to fulfil.
  1. Condition of Acceptance:
    1. It is a pre-requisite of the acceptance of the abstract that the submitter must register to attend the Congress and present the work orally or as an e-poster. Abstracts submitted before payment of registration are eligible for an offer of acceptance. However, final acceptance requires registration by the deadline of 31st July 2019 in order to confirm their participation and to ensure their abstract(s) to be publish in Congress programme and proceedings.
    2. All presenters must attend the congress at least on the day of their presentation. Acceptance of abstracts does not imply any payment by the Congress Committee. Presenters must arrange and pay for their own traveling, accommodation, insurance and etc. expenses to attend the Congress.
