Abstract Content (abstracts should be written in Size 11 font, Arial font style) Background: Recent studies have shown that health literacy (HL) is rather low in large parts of the Swiss population [1]. Therefore, one goal of the Federal Council's Health Policy Strategy 2030 is to improve health literacy. They state that the population should be "... supported by competent health professionals (HP)..." [2: 16]. For this purpose, the topic of HL has to be integrated in the education and training of HP. Aim: The present project aims at deriving recommendations for action from systematic reviews on Swiss curricula to improve education of HP in HL. Method: Reviews of curricula for the education of HP concerning HL were researched until March 2021 and selected based on pre-defined criteria. Analysis was conducted on an extended model on educational management of the healthcare system, with the categories educational actors, educational experiences, educational settings, and educational resources [see 3: 154]. Initial recommendations for action in Switzerland were extracted from the results. Results: From 3672 sources, 2 reviews [4, 5] could be included in the analysis. Actors were mostly students of health professions (e.g., pharmacy or nursing); only one study had a multiprofessional approach. Real spaces such as classrooms, simulation labs, and professional practice were used as educational settings along with few virtual spaces. Mainly single learning sequences with various assessment and evaluation tools were reported. In one study, students acted as teachers. Discussion: The following recommendations for action could be derived: 1) Opportunities for interprofessional interaction should be addressed for all actors; 2) Learning content should be integrated into the overall curriculum and taught integrative in professional practice; 3) Competencies should be described, and valid assessment and evaluation instruments be developed and used; 4) Other educational resources such as teachers’ training in theory and practice should be addressed. Practical implications: The training of HP in HL is an important part for the improvement of HL of the population and recommendations for Switzerland enable the creation of appropriate concepts in an implementation-oriented way.
