Abstract Content (abstracts should be written in Size 11 font, Arial font style) Background and objective: Non-communicable diseases( NCDs) are rapidly increasing globally and have become a major public health problem. They are common causes of disability in the elderly. The theme of this activity is Hypertension diet. By Health education class and culinary competition, participants recognize the importance of medical nutrition therapy, and achieve the purpose of hypertension prevention.
Methods: This study recruited community people and medical staff who participated in teams. After Health education of DASH diet, the participants were divided into three groups to participate in a culinary competition, and to fill in a questionnaire on the knowledge, attitude, and behavior of hypertension prevention. The Wilcoxon sign rank test was used for statistical analysis to explore the difference before and after the intervention of this activity, and the p value <0.05 represented statistical significance.
Results: The results have shown that the cognition of hypertension prevention of the post test was better than the previous test and reached a statistically significant difference (p < 0.001).
Conclusions: In the past, the health education mainly focused on classroom teaching. This research uses a model of health literacy and culinary competitions to combine knowledge and practice to deepen the learning effect, so that participants can apply what they have learned to their lifestyles and achieve the purpose of hypertension prevention. |
