Abstract Content (abstracts should be written in Size 11 font, Arial font style) Introduction The increase in the female prison population, the overcrowding of prisons and the inadequate environment increase the vulnerability of these population to diseases, making necessary health actions that promote self-care. The aim of this study was to validate the content and appearance of storyboards on breast cancer prevention to promote the health of inmate women.
Method Descriptive methodological study of content and appearance validation by specialists. Ten experts participated in the study. Storyboards were developed based on health literacy. The Health Educational Content Validation instrument (IVCES) and the Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM) instrument, both in Portuguese, were used for the evaluation by the specialists. The content validation index and the overall SAM score were verified quantitatively, and the suggestions were evaluated qualitatively.
Result Two storyboards were developed. Storyboard 1 focused on risk factors for breast cancer. Storyboard 2 covered how to prevent breast cancer. They have 20 and 19 scenes, respectively. The content validation index was 85% and the overall SAM score was 81%, classifying the material as superior. The expert judges proposed some exchanges of images, in order to better adapt them to the characteristics of the target audience. They also suggested some textual changes to make the speech more similar to that used by the target audience.
Conclusion The materials produced were evaluated as adequate, relevant and applicable to the target population and can be classified as health literate materials. Its use can contribute to a better self-care and empowerment of breast cancer prevention measures by female prisoners. |
