Background: Lifestyle intervention programmes are efficacious in the management of chronic disease, but often report poor attendance and adherence rates that hinder treatment effectiveness and health outcomes.

Aims: This study identified unhealthy dietary habits and physical activities and followed by personal tailored telephone called out to confirm the compliance. Finally, we evaluated whether such an intervention could change unhealthy behaviours and further reduce metabolic syndrome.

Methods: This study was conducted in a community in 2019. We recruit participants through form community health checkups, those who had either abnormal sugar, lipid, or obesity were recruited for a 6-month lifestyle intervention program. At baseline, we distributed a lifestyle questionnaire to assess dietary habits and physical activity, also assessed quality of life with SF-12. We intervened with correct nutrition programs and regular telephone called out to confirm the behavior and body weight change every month. We had a repeat blood test and questionnaire after complete a 6-month follow up. We analyzed the body weight and Lab data change after lifestyle intervention.

Results: In total, 56 (24 men 32 women) participants with complete 6-month lifestyle intervention. The average weight loss was 3.6kg and  Lab data showed improving fasting sugar and lipid. SF-12 revealed improving physical function, general health, and vitality.

Conclusions: The treatment of metabolic syndrome needs to implement a healthy lifestyle, focuses on diet therapy and exercise. Correct information and tailored personal education programs followed with regular telephone called out could reduce body weight, improve abnormal Lab data and quality of life.
